Important safety advice

The following safety advice must always be observed when using electrical equipment:

This advice will help you avoid serious injury or damage and achieve better results.

Please read carefully through the following information concerning safety and proper use. Before reading, fold out the page with the illustrations and make yourself familiar with all the functions of the device. Be careful to keep these advice notes and if necessary pass them on to a third party.

To avoid danger to life from electric shock:

  • The mains voltage at the mains socket must match that shown on the rating plate on the device.
  • If the connection lead or device does not work perfectly or is damaged, have it examined and repaired immediately at the service centre.
  • Arrange for defective power plugs and/or cables to be replaced as soon as possible by a qualified technician or by our Customer Service Department to avoid the risk of injury.
  • Do not place the device out in the rain.
Do not use it in a damp or wet environment. Make sure that the mains lead never gets wet during operation.

Avoiding the dangers of fire and injury:

  • Never allow the device to operate unattended.
  • Caution! Keep children away from the mains lead and the device. Children often underestimate the dangers associated with electrical equipment.
Make sure that the device has a firm support. Ensure that the mains plug can be easily reached and that the mains lead cannot become a trip hazard.
  • To avoid injury make sure that the filter/sieve and the fruit flesh dish are correctly installed.
  • Before you switch on the device, check that the lid is correctly closed by the clamp levers. The clamp levers are not to be released whilst the device is operating.

  • When you work with the juice extractor, never insert your hands or other objects into the opening, as this could lead to serious injury or damage to the juice press. Use the filling aid supplied to remove any pieces of fruit stuck in the extractor. If any pieces of fruit cannot be removed by the filling aid, switch off the device and pull out the plug. Then you may open the device.

  • Danger of injury! The cutter mechanism is very sharp. Be careful - treat it with respect.
  • Do not touch any moving parts.
After use, switch the device off and pull the plug out of the mains socket. The device must only be opened up after the motor has reached a standstill.
  • Never use the device:
  • if the filter / sieve, mains lead or mains plug is damaged,
  • if the device is not working properly, or if it is damaged in any other way or has been dropped.
Take the device for inspection or repair to the service centre.
  • The use of accessories not recommended nor sold by the manufacturer of the juice extractor can lead to fire, electrical short circuit or injury.

This is how to use the device safely:

  • If danger arises, pull the mains plug immediately out of the mains socket.
  • Never use the device for a purpose for which it was not intended.
  • Remain alert at all times! Always watch what you are doing and proceed with caution. Do not use the device if you cannot concentrate or you are feeling unwell.
  • Before you operate the juice extractor make sure that the juice extractor has been fully and properly put together. The juice extractor must only be operated after the filter/sieve, fruit juice or fruit flesh container has been correctly installed and the clamp levers and the lid are closed.
After using the juice press make sure that the On/off switch is in the Off position ("0"). The motor must have come to a complete standstill before the device is opened.
  • If you are not using the device, if you intend to remove any parts or before cleaning - remove the mains plug and lead from the device.
  • Do not use the device outside.

Assembly and use of the device

  • Choose a suitable place for your juice extractor. To operate the device efficiently and safely we recommend that it is positioned so that the lead runs back from the guide at the rear towards the mains socket.

All controls and components are simple and easy to use.

  • At the front there is the On/Off switch ⑥ , - swivelling container ⑦ with the integrated container ⑧ e.g. for fruit flesh
  • and on the right there is the fruit juice outlet for the supplied separate container ⑨ or a glass.

Warning: Check that the device is switched off and the mains plug is out of the socket before assembling the device.

  1. Place the opening of the fruit flesh tray ⑩ on the driveshaft ⑫ . Position the tray such that it sits firmly in the recess on the base unit.
  2. Place the filter/sieve ① on the drive-shaft ② . Make sure this is seated firmly before you continue assembly.
  3. Place the top cover ④ on to the fruit flesh tray ⑩ , so that the bottom of the feed chute sits inside the filter/ sieve ⑪ .
  4. Make sure the top cover sits firmly in the fruit flesh tray recess. Lift the interlock levers ⑤ and press them into the notches in the top cover.
  5. Press the bottom part of the interlock levers against the sides of the device until they engage.

  6. Hang the swivelling fruit juice container ⑦ - first in the upper hinge then in the lower one as it has enough play to engage with light pressure.

  7. Place the container ⑧ so that there, for example, fruit flesh can be captured. Close the fruit juice container ⑦ and ensure that it snaps in.
  8. Place the separate fruit juice container ⑨ or a glass under the fruit juice outlet. The fruit juice container ⑨ has a froth catcher to provide clear and froth-free fruit juice.
  9. Insert the plug into the mains socket.

Preparation of the fruit / vegetables

  • Important: Only use well-ripened fruit as otherwise the filter can become overloaded. If this happens, clean the filter again.
  • Wash or peel the fruit or vegetables that you wish to process. Large pips or stones should always be removed from the fruit before juicing.
  • Fruit with cores (such as apples, pears) can be juiced with the skin and core.
  • For fruit (cherries, plums etc.), remove all large pips (melons etc.) and stones to avoid damaging the device.
  • Thick-skinned fruit (e.g. citrus fruit, melons, kiwis) and root vegetables must always be peeled first.
  • For grapes, the main stems must be cut off.
  • Cut the fruit or vegetables into the size of pieces that can fit into the feed chute.

① Note: Currants and rhubarb are not suitable for making juice.

Extracting juice

  1. Hold the feeding rod ① with one hand and insert the fruit or vegetable pieces into the filler opening with the other. Always use the feeding rod ① to press the fruit/vegetables carefully into the opening (refer to Figs. A and B). Insert further pieces as the fruit or vegetables are processed. Do not switch off the device whilst this is being done.

Tip: The lid ③ is designed so that it can also be used as a convenient storage tray. Turn the lid the other way up on the filler opening assembly ② (refer to Fig. ⑥).

Warning: Never insert your finger or other objects into the feed opening whilst the device is operating. This could lead to serious injury and / or damage to the juice press.

① Note: To avoid fruit getting stuck in the feed opening, only insert the fruit when the device is switched on. If you have large quantities to process, when the juice container is full, pour the extracted juice into a larger container.

If pieces of fruit become stuck in the feed opening and cannot be immediately dislodged with the feeding rod then you should follow this procedure so as not to damage the juice extractor:

  • Switch the device off immediately and take out the plug.
  • Release the interlock levers ⑤ and take out the fruit flesh tray ⑩ .
  • Remove the stuck pieces of fruit.
  • Reassemble the device again and continue extracting the juice.

  • Always switch off the device as soon as you have processed all your fruit.

  • For some types of fruits/vegetables that contain a lot of liquid, such as tomatoes, grapes, or melons, set the On/Off switch ⑥ to speed setting 1. For drier fruit/vegetables (e.g. carrots, peas and apples) speed setting 2 is to be used.

Emptying the fruit container and filter

  1. When processing fruit or vegetables that have a high liquid content (e.g. tomatoes, grapes, melons): Do not process more than 3kg of fruit or vegetables before emptying the fruit flesh container.
  2. When processing fruit or vegetables with low liquid content (e.g. carrots, apples): empty the fruit flesh container ⑧ as soon as it appears full.

If the fruit juice suddenly becomes much thicker or if you can hear that the motor is starting to turn slowly, then the filter ⑪ needs to be cleaned. After you have taken out the fruit flesh re-assemble the device.

Warning: Check that the mains plug has been removed if the juice extractor is not being used.

Cleaning

  • Always pull out the mains plug before fitting or removing accessories, or before you clean the device.
  • Spattered or overflowing fruit juice must be cleaned up immediately as it is much more difficult to remove later. Clean the base unit and the mains lead using only a slightly damp cloth.
  • Clean the feeding rod, sieve/filter and fruit juice container in warm soapy water and rinse carefully.
  • To remove the fruit pulp from the filter, hold the filter (with its underside upwards) under running water and clean it with a soft nylon brush.

Warning: In order to avoid electric shock never immerse the motor in water or any other liquid.

① Note: Do not use aggressive cleaning agents for cleaning the fruit extractor. Do not clean the device or its components in the dishwasher or in boiling water.

Colour staining:

  • Some fruits or vegetables can colour the white parts of the juice extractor. To remove these stains soak the stained parts in a solution of one cup of household bleach to one cup of water. Then clean the parts with washing-up liquid and rinse with clean water.
